(CNN) — YouTube on Friday said it would restore former President Donald Trump’s channel, more than two years after suspending it following the January 6 attack on the US Capitol. The move follows similar actions by Twitter and Facebook-parent Meta in recent months, although Trump has yet to resume posting on those platforms. It also comes after Trump announced last fall that he would run for president again in 2024.“We carefully evaluated the continued risk of real-world violence, while balancing the chance for voters to hear equally from major national candidates in the run up to an election,” YouTube said in a tweet Friday. The channel restoration was first reported by Axios.YouTube initially suspended Trump’s channel after the Capitol riot, saying a video on the channel had violated its policy against inciting violence. Since then, Trump’s account had been blocked from uploading new videos or livestreams.YouTube had also disabled comments underne...Tyre Sampson was 14 when he died after falling off an amusement ride last year. CNN) — As she watched construction workers dismantle the amusement park ride where her 14-year-old son died from a horrific fall, Nekia Dodd hoped no families will suffer as she has this last year.Tyre Sampson plummeted to his death from the Orlando FreeFall drop tower in ICON Park on March 24 — a ride described by its operators as the world’s tallest freestanding drop tower. Bystander video showed the teen slipping from his seat seconds after the ride began its nearly 400-foot drop.“All I am left to do is wonder, (is) imagine” what the rest of Tyre’s life would have been like, Dodd told CNN Wednesday.Wearing a shirt with her son’s picture on it, Dodd walked around the ride that took her son’s life; closed since that day, it is now surrounded by a chain link fence and construction equipment.“When I lost my son, I was not there,” Dodd said after her visit to the amusement park — her first time in Florida. “The la...Why American whiskey is the real winner of St. Patrick’s Day

(CNN) — On St. Patrick’s Day, it might seem appropriate to knock back a shot of Jameson Irish Whiskey. However, when it comes to the luck of the Irish, US whiskey-makers might have the upper hand.American-made whiskey is one of the fastest-growing spirits in the United States, with sales soaring nearly 11% last year to $5.1 billion, according to a recent report from the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States (DISCUS). In particular, sales of premium whiskeys from both small and large US distilleries are spurring growth, as customers increasingly treat themselves to a high-quality drink.“Spirits consumers appreciate the rich heritage, tradition and authenticity of American whiskey,” Lisa Hawkins, senior vice president for public affairs for DISCUS, told CNN. She added that’s there’s a “shared passion” among whiskey drinkers because they want to know where it’s made, the type of grains that are used and its age.One of the ...Man arrested in connection to Farm Store robbery in Hialeah

Hialeah Police Department officers have arrested a suspect in regard to a robbery that happened at a Farm Store in Hialeah on March 7. He is now being charged with armed robbery with the use of a deadly weapon. David Heredia, 22, was located after surveillance videos showed him getting into a black Mercedes Benz C-Class with dark rims after the robbery. Detectives obtained surveillance video captured on the same night of the robbery showing the vehicle at Walker Park in Hialeah. Investigators then conducted a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) search, and that was when, police said, they discovered the car was registered to Heredia.Heredia was apprehended Monday without incident, as police conducted a search inside the car where they found a similar sweatshirt to the one seen on surveillance footage as well as a handgun case.WHO: Raccoon dog data give clues to COVID origin — but no definitive answer

New Chinese data on genetic samples taken in the Wuhan market in China in 2020 don’t provide a definitive answer as to how the COVID-19 pandemic began, the World Health Organization (WHO) said Friday, following media reports that the data link the pandemic’s origins to raccoon dogs at the market. The data in question was uploaded to the international virus database GISAID by the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention late last week, according to the Atlantic, but hastily removed following questions from international scientists. However, an analysis of the data by a team of international researchers, first reported by the Atlantic on Thursday, found that samples containing coronavirus also contained genetic material from animals, including raccoon dogs. This led to suggestions that raccoon dogs being sold at the market could have been carrying the virus. The WHO, which only became aware of the data over the weekend, was bombarded with questions about the import...Babesiosis, a tickborne disease, is on the rise in Northeast, according to CDC report

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden is hosting Ireland’s prime minister on Friday, after the COVID-19 pandemic scuttled the longstanding St. Patrick’s Day meetup two years in a row. Leo Varadkar, known as the taoiseach, and his partner, Matthew Barrett, also attended a breakfast with Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff at the Vice President’s home, and Varadkar told the crowd there that Ireland is grateful for the “close and deep bond with these United States.” He said the U.S. has played a central role in promoting peace in Ireland “at critical points when few others had the influence to do so.” And Varadkar said the U.S. has been strong on LGBTQ rights. “From Stonewall to Sacramento to San Francisco. America has led the way when it comes to LGBT equality,” he said. “I don’t think I would be here today were it not for what America did.”Varadkar was meeting with the president in the Oval Office before both were to head to the Cap...Johnston will finalize own mandate for election interference probe
