South Park Hill home lists for sale as owner-opposed landmark push continues A South Park Hill home that the current owner wants to demolish, but that some neighbors want to see preserved, is now being marketed for sale.A listing for the 4,500-square-foot home on 0.43 acres at 5013 E. Montview Ave. went live on Zillow last week with a $2.73 million asking price.Owners Mark and Marianne Rinehart purchased the home on 0.43 acres through a trust for $2.5 million in September 2022, records show. They want to demolish the structure and build a larger single-family home, according to documents submitted to the city.In November, however, three women who live nearby submitted a landmark designation application for the home with the help of the nonprofit Historic Denver.Naming the structure a city landmark would effectively prevent demolition. The application is still pending and has yet to be reviewed by Denver’s Landmark Preservation Commission. Worker killed in Orange County trench accident A worker died in an accident inside a trench at an excavation site in Tustin on Wednesday, authorities said.Fire crews responded to the 9800 block of Newport Avenue at about 10:30 a.m.Authorities say the victim, a man, was about 15 feet underground when something fell on his head. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.The trench where a worker died in an accident on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2023, in Tustin, California. (KTLA)The nature of the accident wasn't immediately released, nor was the name of the victim.KTLA 5 reporter Chip Yost said co-workers and family members who gathered at the scene were visibly distraught. Mother charged, accused of killing daughter in Martinez DUI crash (KRON) -- A mother is accused of killing her 5-year-old daughter after she allegedly crashed the family's vehicle into a tree while driving under the influence, investigators said.Contra Costa County prosecutors filed a flurry of felony charges on Wednesday against Shakela Janey Dominick, 32. Dominick's 11-year-old child was also inside the family's gray Honda SUV when it veered off Highway 4 in Martinez and collided into a tree. The deadly wreck happened around midnight Sunday. Serial Walnut Creek burglar arrested, charged by Contra Costa County DA (KRON) -- A serial Walnut Creek burglar was arrested last week on Dec. 14, the Walnut Creek Police Department announced on Wednesday. Darrell Lipston was arrested in connection to multiple burglaries on the 100 block of Pringle Avenue.WCPD officers conducted a probation search of Lipston's Pittsburg residence. It was discovered that Lipston had all of the stolen property in connection to these burglaries, police said. Serial Bay Area shoplifter arrested 90 times Lipston was also arrested for possession of stolen property, conspiracy and violation of probation. He was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility with no bail, according to county jail records. On Monday, the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office filed charges against Lipston. He was charged with six counts of residential burglary, three counts of grand theft and four counts of vandalism.Lipston is due in court on Jan. 2, 2024.
